What is a Laser Welded Stainless Finned Tube?
A laser welded stainless finned tube is a type of stainless steel finned tube where fins are welded onto the tube using a laser welding machine. Initially, lasers could only weld stainless steel strips to stainless steel tubes. With technological advancements, lasers can now weld carbon steel strips to carbon steel tubes, and copper strips to copper alloy tubes. Compared to traditional high-frequency welding technology, laser welding achieves a penetration rate of up to 99%, preventing crevice corrosion, extending service life, and reducing heat transfer resistance.
Laser welded stainless finned tubes are also a common material choice. Laser-welded stainless steel finned tubes possess characteristics such as corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, and high pressure resistance, making them suitable for various harsh working environments. The corrosion resistance of stainless steel allows the finned tubes to operate stably for extended periods in corrosive environments such as those with high humidity and high salinity. At the same time, stainless steel finned tubes also have high strength and wear resistance, enabling them to withstand significant pressure and friction.
Laser Welded Finned Tube Principle
Laser welding involves directing a high-intensity laser beam onto the metal surface. Through the interaction between the laser and the metal, the metal absorbs the laser energy, converting it into heat, causing the metal to melt and then cool and crystallize to form a weld.
Advantages of Laser Welded Stainless Finned Tubes:
High-precision welding: Thin and continuous welds; laser welding achieves high-precision welding with high weld quality and minimal welding deformation, improving the reliability and stability of the finned tube, resulting in high heat utilization efficiency, favorable weld formation, and welds free of impurities because laser welding is performed under a protective atmosphere.
High efficiency and energy saving: Short heating time, fast laser welding speed, small heat-affected zone, minimal changes in microstructure, and slight changes in the microstructure of the tube and fins, reducing energy consumption and material waste, and lowering production costs.
Wide range of applications: Laser-welded stainless finned tubes are suitable for heat exchange with various media such as steam and hot water, and can be widely used in petrochemicals, power plant boilers, economizers, refrigeration systems, and other industries.
Easy for secondary processing: Laser-welded finned tubes have a smooth surface without burrs or wrinkles, making them easy to clean and remove surface water, resulting in low fluid resistance and facilitating secondary processing and installation.
In summary, laser welding of stainless steel finned tubes offers advantages such as high precision, high efficiency and energy saving, wide range of applications, and ease of secondary processing, making it an advanced heat exchanger product with broad application prospects.
Advantages of Stainless Steel Finned Tubes:
Strong applicability: Can use steam and hot water as heat transfer media, widely used in petrochemicals, economizers, waste heat recovery, greenhouses, power plant boilers, wood drying, and other industrial fields. Compact structure: The heat dissipation tubes are fixed with a steel perforated plate frame, resulting in a compact structure and good airtightness. High thermal efficiency: Utilizing a single-cycle design, it boasts high heat transfer efficiency and rapid heating speed, effectively improving the efficiency of the heat exchanger, extending its service life, reducing its size, and saving materials to some extent.
High cost-effectiveness: The stainless steel finned tubes offer excellent heat dissipation performance, high thermal efficiency, and a long service life, making them highly cost-effective.
Easy installation and maintenance: Installation, use, and maintenance are simple and convenient. The entire finned tube has no contact thermal resistance, excellent heat transfer performance, high strength, resistance to thermal shock and mechanical vibration, and good thermal expansion properties.
Energy-saving and environmentally friendly: Using a low-temperature heating method, it can maintain a constant indoor temperature for extended periods, achieving energy-saving and environmentally friendly results.

Laser Welded Stainless Finned Tube Appearance Dimension Inspection
Laser welded stainless finned tube appearance dimension inspection is one of the important links to ensure the quality and performance of fin tubes. The inspection items mainly include fin height, fin spacing, fin thickness, base tube wall thickness and outer diameter, etc.
According to customer requirements, all steel tubes purchased by Datang Finned Tube are stainless steel seamless tubes that have undergone hydrostatic testing and eddy current testing before finning. If requested by the customer, we will procure stainless steel seamless tubes from the tube manufacturer after they have been inspected, approved, and released by the customer or a third-party inspection agency.
Advantages of Laser Welding for Finned Tubes
1. High degree of automation: For example, an automatic fin laser welding machine can complete the welding in a single pass, simultaneously winding the fin base and controlling the weld depth.
2. High strength and strong bonding: Laser welding is a metallurgical bond, with a welding strength exceeding 600 MPa.
3. High precision: Laser welding machines offer high precision, achieving an accuracy of 0.05 mm for 8-meter-long finned tubes.
4. Laser welding can significantly improve the heat transfer coefficient.
5. Laser welding allows for fin pitches less than or equal to 2.5 mm, increasing the heat dissipation area by nearly 50% compared to high-frequency welded tubes (pitch greater than or equal to 4.5 mm), significantly reducing the amount of tubing required and the size of the heat exchanger.
