What are wound finned tubes?
Wound finned tubes the base tube is a steel pipe, with aluminum or copper fins wrapped around the outside.The fin types include:L-fin; LL-fin; KL-fin; they are a specialized type of finned tube used in air coolers, lube oil coolers, and heat exchangers. They are designed to enhance heat transfer performance and are commonly used in applications where high thermal efficiency and compact design are crucial.

The quality of the wound finned tube is assured by hydrostatic or pneumatic testing, eddy current testing and tensile testing to verify the mechanical bond between the inner tube and the outer fins.

Tube ends are square cut, free burrs, internally dried and air blown clean, externally coated with Anti-rust at both ends of wound finned tube.
Wound Finned Tube for Heat Exchanger
L type fin tube, The fin is helically wound around the base tube forming a strong mechanical contact between the tube and fin, thus improving the heat transfer efficiency.Also named Wrap On fin tube. This also give considerable corrosion protection to the base tube.
Maxumum working temperature: 270 F (130 C)
LL fin tube Same as L fin except the fin foot is overlapped giving more corrosion protection. Also named Over Lapped fin tube. The fin is helically wound around the base tube forming a strong mechanical contact between the tube and fin, thus improving the heat transfer efficiency.This type of finned tube is often used as an alternative to the more expensive extruded type fin in corrosive environments.
Maximum working temperature: 330 F (165 ℃)
KL type fin tube same as L fin tube,except that the base tube is knurled before application of the fin foot.Also named Wrap On Knurled type fin tube.After application,the fin foot is knurled into the corresponding knurling on the base tube thereby enhancing the bond between fin and tube,Resulting in improved heat transfer efficiency.
Maxumum working temperature:500 F (260 C)
Embedded finned tube,the fin strip is wound into a machined groove on the tube surface and securely locked into place by back filling with base tube material.Also named imbedded fin tube. G fin tube have exceptional heat transfer efficiency at higher tube metal temperature.
Maxumum working temperature:750 degrees Fahrenheit (400 Degree Celsius )
Crimped fin tube,use carbon steel or stainless steel strip direct spiral in tube surface for improving heat transfer efficiency.Fin bottom touch tube surface but not bonded together,keep by Tension of the steel belt itself, both end fins can be permanently bonded to the tube by using solder.Cost is low than HFW fin tube.Also named spiral fin tube.
