An air-cooled heat exchanger (Fin Fan Air Cooler, ACHES) is a device that uses ambient air as a cooling medium to cool a hot fluid (gas or liquid) through forced convection heat exchange. Its core principle is to remove heat from the hot fluid through heat exchange between the air and the hot fluid, thereby achieving cooling.

Air Cooled Heat Exchangers (ACHE) Core Principles and Working Process

Hot Fluid Flow: The hot fluid to be cooled flows inside pipes or tube bundles, which are typically made of metals with good thermal conductivity (such as aluminum, copper, or stainless steel).

Forced Air Convection: An external fan drives ambient air, forcibly blowing or drawing it over the outer surface of the pipe/tube bundle at a certain flow rate.

Air Cooled Heat Exchangers (ACHE) Heat Transfer Process:

The hot fluid transfers heat to the metal tube walls (convective heat transfer).

Heat is conducted through the metal tube walls to the outer surface.

Flowing air comes into contact with the outer surface of the tube walls, absorbs heat, and heats up (air-side convective heat transfer).
